Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does the Certificate Program cost?
A: Currently, we are able to offer two pricing options. Students may pay ONE PAYMENT of $4500 or MONTHLY installments of $200 over two years.
Q: What are the requirements to complete the Certificate Program?
A: Certificate track students choose from a wide range of DG courses and exclusive opportunities for independent study and mentorship to complete their 40 credits. All students are required to take Architecture of plays/musicals, Artist as CEO, 4 Writing Workshops/Master Classes, complete a Plays in Progress, participate in a career coaching session, and attend 12 plays/readings/performances .
Q: Can my prior credits be transferred over to the Certificate Program?
A: Current DGI students will receive credit for courses completed prior to the establishment of the Certificate Program. (If you do not remember which classes you have taken, please feel free to email us.) Attendees of past DGI intensives and DG conferences will be eligible to receive credit for those as well. In certain instances, credit will also be provided to students who took similar classes through other writing programs.
Q: Can I sign up for the Certificate Program's $200/month payment plan in time for the Fall 2019 semester?
A: The DGI Certificate Program is brand new; we are not currently set up to handle the monthly payment plan quite yet, but we will be soon. We expect the pay-over-time function will kick in at the end of this semester, so that students will be able to take advantage of that payment process by next semester.
Q: How do I apply to the DGI's Fall 2019 courses?
A: To apply for a DGI Fall 2019 course, including masterclasses and writing workshops, please click here. Once you have selected the course to which you would like to apply, you will be taken to its registration page, where you can register and pay in order to reserve your spot. When you have successfully registered for the course, you will receive a confirmation email; if the permission of the instructor is required, you will be asked to fill out an additional application. We will let you know your acceptance status within a week's time.
Q: What if I don't get in?
A: If you are not ultimately admitted into the course, we will be sure to refund payment and/or work with you to find another DGI course that more aptly suits your needs.
Q: What should I do if I want to apply for both the Certificate Program and for a course this semester?
A: If you are applying for the DGI Certificate in Dramatic Writing, and would like to register for a Fall 2019 course, we encourage you to register for the course first in order to reserve your place. If you are admitted to the certificate program, those tuition fees will be deducted from the overall cost of the program.
